My Travel Bucket List
I love to travel so I decided to compile a list of all the places I would like to see one day. Enjoy and feel free to leave a comment and tell me about your travel bucket lists. Happy reading.
1. Zanzibar
Zanzibar is a romantic island just off the coast of East Africa. I would love to go there one day because of the clear Blue Ocean and sandy beaches. With a Pina Colada in my hand and someone to share this romantic getaway with, what more could you possibly want? Definitely at the top of my bucket list.
2. Disneyland-Paris
So this is almost like a 2-in-1 because should I ever have the chance to go to Disneyland, I would first make a stop in Paris itself. Not because it is known as the city of love but because of the Eiffel Tower, which was named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel. His company designed as well as built the tower. After I’ve seen Paris, I would make my way to Disneyland, which is located in Marnee-la-Vallee, a town located 32 km’s east of Paris. It is a theme park full of fun and thrilling rides for the whole family to enjoy. Enough to bring out your inner child.
3. Italy
Of course Italy is on my bucket list. Italy is one of the most beautiful places on earth with so much to see and do. Rome is the capital of Italy and it is also home of the Vatican (ever seen The Vatican Tapes). You can visit Venice, the breath-taking city of canals and Milan, Italy’s fashion capital (this one’s for the ladies of course). For someone who can eat pizza and pasta, every day for the rest of my life, Italy is definitely the place to visit
4.Hawaii
This one was actually chosen by someone special but after doing research on Hawaii, which is interestingly a U.S state I realised that one should visit this beauty at least once in your life. Hawaii has 6 main islands with Oahu as the biggest city. Honolulu is the capital of Hawaii (you would know this if you watched Lilo & Stitch). This volcanic archipelago has beaches with gold, red, black and even green sands. Points of interest are the Hawaii volcanoes, the Hawaiian Islands, the Polynesian Cultural Centre and of course, Pearl Harbour.
5. New York
One of my biggest wishes in life is to be in New York at New Year. Every New Year’s, people gather at Times Square for the big ball drop. Just to be there to experience that moment will be amazing for me. Also, I would like to see all the top sights of New York such as the Empire State Building, a 103-story landmark (think King-Kong). Also, the Statue of Liberty, which was actually a gift from the French when America gained independence. It has the height of 93m. Fun fact, Gustave Eiffel was one of the architects. And of course, I would make a stop at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.
6. Cape Town
Even though I am South African, I have never been to Cape Town in the Western Cape, South Africa. It is home of our beautiful Table Mountain which you can access either by cable cars or by walking. Should I ever visit Cape Town, I would make my way to Table Mountain (by cable car, of course). After I have been there I would make my way to Robben Island which is the prison that once held Nelson Mandela. It is now a living museum. I would also make a trip to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront (also known as the V & A waterfront) for some serious shopping. The Two Oceans Aquarium would also be on my list. Who wouldn’t want to see some dolphins and penguins?
7. Egypt
Egypt is a country which links northeast Africa with the Middle East. It dates to the time of the pharaohs. The capital is Cairo, home of the Muhammed Ali Mosque. I would obviously want to the Great Pyramids of Giza as well as the Great Sphinx. I would also visit the Ras Muhammed National Park where you can actually go snorkeling. Egypt also has its own amusement park which is named Dream Park, something for the adrenaline junkies.
8. Dubai
Funny enough, I also wanted to see Dubai. Should I ever be able to afford it, I would stay in the Burj Al Arab, which is a very luxurious hotel with posh suites and amazing dining. I would spend a day at the Wild Wadi Water Park, an outdoor water park with loads of rides and slides which is definitely something for all the water bugs out there. The Palm, a resort with water and marine-animal parks, is located offshore of Atlantis, on artificial islands. Amazing, right?
9. Caribbean Islands
This one is also for the love birds out there. The Caribbean consists of the Caribbean Sea, its island and the surrounding coasts. The region has 700 islands, reefs and cays. No wonder I had a hard time choosing places I wanted to see! First of all, I would visit the Los Haitises National Park which consists of parks, caves, ecotourism and concerts. Second of all, I would visit Catalina Island, a tropical, romantic island 1.5 miles from the mainland. Next on my list is the Toro Verde Nature Adventure Park where you can go zip-lining. Last but not least, I would go to Harbour Islands, Bahamas which is known for the long pink sand beaches stretching along the eastern shore.
10. Thailand
Thailand has always been a beautiful place for me. It is home of the Phi Phi Islands, an island group between Phuket and the west Strait of Malacca. The Khao Yai National Park is one of the top sights in Thailand. You get to see the Haew Narok waterfall, as well as wildlife. I would also visit Wat Phra Singh, a restored 14th-century Buddhist temple. I absolutely adore tigers so I would make it a point to see the Sriracha Tiger Zoo. I would also do some scuba-diving at the Similan Islands National Park.
